Escape from the Zombies
Updated: Feb 16, 2019
As one of my favorite movies once said, “Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.” And that couldn’t be truer than on a Reno Crawl night.
Reno has multiple crawls throughout the year. The only two I ever attend is the Zombie Crawl in October and the Santa Crawl in December. But truly, the Zombie Crawl is by far the best one. Each year I am determined to get scary enough to scare drunk people, because let’s face it, is there anything better? And although I never am actually the scariest one there, I still always have a blast.
This year I failed to purchase the terrifying white zombie contacts in time, so I decided to be a vampire. And it turned out great. My make-up looked pretty damn scary. My best friend, Micaela, also went all out, she too looked like a beautiful, yet terrifying zombie. Our other friend Melissa topped the creative cake by being a White Walker. Does she not look amazing?
The problem with the crawls is that they are so much fun, everyone is hearing about it. Since my first time going, the crowds have become bigger and bigger. And this year was just a little too much. We waited about an hour to get into Brew Brother’s, and that was pretty much the only bar we got into. Although I was out on the town from 10:30 pm to 3:00 am, I remained pretty sober as there was never a short enough line to buy drinks, and I am fairly impatient.
But, the people watching always makes up for the problems with lines. Like I said, I was definitely not the scariest one there, some people’s zombie make-up looks so real you feel like they just got off the set of the Walking Dead. Truly disgusting and amazing. Others go a completely different route, and just dress up like they are going trick-or-treating. Like this amazing Russel I met:
Many, especially females, take the advice from Mean Girls and don’t go scary at all. Instead, they show up downtown half naked with so much skin exposed I am surprised they don’t get indecent exposure citations. No joke, once inside the bar, a woman near us all night was 100% naked. All she was wearing was paint. Bold she was, very bold.
Overall, costumes were amazing to see. But the insane crowds of Zombie Crawl 2015 make me question whether I will be going to any more crawls in the future. We shall see!
