2018 New Year New Blog Strategy
Updated: Feb 16, 2019
I’ve been trying to focus and hone in on what I really want in life. 2017 was the best year of my life, easily. I got married. I have an amazing job. I am happy. I have everything I want. Except for one thing.
I want my blog to be my life. I want my blog to be my career. I want this because I know I have stories to tell. I do so many fun things that I want the world to know about.
I started Escape Reno with the idea that I could tell everyone in Reno about how easy it is to go to different destinations in the US. But I got side tracked. We all do. But I definitely did.
I got side tracked by the Instagram game of getting followers and likes and somehow hope that will translate into blog visitors. Big thanks to Google Analytics – that’s not accurate. All my blog visitors came from Pinterest. So. Step one in 2018 – more effort into Pinterest, not Instagram.
Step two is easy. Actually write my posts.
I was not disciplined in 2017. I missed the deadlines I set for myself. I mean come on. I wrote Disney World posts, a trip I took in March, in August. I plan on holding myself accountable, pushing my content out on time, and sharing my experiences in a more timely manner.
I am excited to say I’ve created my own content planner, find it here.
You may not be able to use it for anything in your life, but, it’s helpful for me so I’m sharing it. I have so many blog posts already scheduled for Q1 of 2018, I am pumped! I spent all weekend writing. And it makes me happy.
And now step three.
I also am working on outlining one weekend trip for every month in 2018. Dylan and I are planning on just going. Seeing the world around us. There are so many places I haven’t seen since I was a girl, and places he’s never even been to that are within hours of our house! We’ll be going there, and if you’re interested, you can follow along at every step. So in summary, step three is get off my ass, stop watching Netflix, and go do my weekend getaways that I love so much.
I am truly inspired and ready for the new year. I’m ready to share my experiences just like I planned to do when I launched my blog in 2014. Yes. 2014. My blog is that old, yet it’s still a baby because I haven’t given it my all. But that’s exactly what I’m doing starting today.
Happy New Years and happy travels!
