3 Reasons to Do a Boudoir Shoot

Updated: Feb 16, 2019

Boudoir got really popular a few years ago, maybe in like 2016. It seemed like everyone was getting sexy photos taken and it wasn’t really a bad thing to do anymore. It was sexy, fun thing to do.

When one of my girlfriends began offering her boudoir film and photo shoots, I knew I had to do one. More than anything I wanted to take super sexy photos and give them to my husband.

Once I got my photos I had never been so giddy. I mean, I looked fabulous! Me! I mean I’m no model, I’m not super tiny; but damn did I look good in the photos. I was beyond excited to share them with Dylan. Hell, I would have shared them with the world if I hadn’t been naked!

Honestly, I never thought I would be writing this blog post because a) I don’t want to share my fancy nudes; and b) I didn’t really have a reason to write my thoughts on the topic. My opinion changed simply because lately, I feel that I keep hearing women say social media and the internet makes them self conscious. They compare themselves to others and feel bad about themselves. If this is you, you need to go take some sexy photos now.

So here are my three reasons why I think everyone should do a boudoir shoot.

1. It makes you confident.

Like I said, the moment I got my photos I was stoked. I couldn’t believe how incredible I looked. I immediately had a spring in my step because I was just like, “damn, I look good.” Everyone has insecurities, everyone. I mean, of course I do, but once I got my photos I just realized the positives outweighed the negatives.

For the weeks after I got my photos I just felt more confident. Maybe it was Dylan’s reaction, too. Because duh, he loved them. And even almost a year later, because yes, these photos are from last year, I still just look at them and feel pride at how great I look. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Maybe it’s some sort of girl power thing, I’m not sure. But, you’ll want to conquer the world after your shoot. Or at least, I sure did.

2. Modeling is so much fun.

I don’t care who you are, there’s nothing more fun than getting all beautified, dressed up (or down), and getting your picture taken! And wearing sexy lingerie? It’s way too fun.

And don’t feel like you need to know what you’re doing. I certainly didn’t. My photographer posed me and told me what to do the entire time. But don’t I look like a pro?

3. It’s a great gift to your significant other.

I’ll never forget Dylan’s reaction when I showed him the boudoir video. And the photos? I thought about printing them out for him, but I thought he’d for sure never see them. So instead I just randomly send them via text all the time. Even now I’ll send him one every once in awhile just for fun.

It’s one of those things that it doesn’t really matter what you think, I mean… your significant other already loves you just the way you are. Any gift like this is just going to be romantic and special, and I’m sure very surprising.

Not sure when you could ever gift something like this? Think wedding, anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine’s Day, anything! Let’s be real. Any day is a good day to give boudoir photos to a spouse.

And don't even think you have to get undressed to take a sexy photo. I left a lot of layers on for awhile! Just check out these examples:

I hope this has inspired you to step out of your comfort zone and consider doing a shoot. Because I truly am so glad I did and I really want to do another one in a few years.

Curious about who did my photos?! These were all taken by the amazingly talented Lexi of Alexis Lynn Photography. To book a shoot with her, check out her instagram.

Side Note… The photos I’ve shared in this post are my more covered photos. I did get down to my birthday suit for pictures, but I’ll save those for Dylan and me.

I love to write about my travels, but I'm taking more time to share my life experiences in my lifestyle blog posts, check out the rest right here:
