Cave Rock, Lake Tahoe Photoshoot
Updated: Feb 16, 2019
When I was younger, for a short period of time, my family moved to South Lake Tahoe. I lived there from 4th grade through 6th. I remember every time we drove to Carson City for big shopping we would drive through Cave Rock, a tunnel next to the lake. When I was little it was just the cool dark tunnel we got to go through. Today, it’s an incredible photo spot. Yet somehow, it took me forever to actually make a trip to the top.
Cave Rock is on Highway 50, and opened back in 1931. It’s a fairly short tunnel, only 400 ft at the longest part. But! It’s actually accessible from above! If you are driving south, you can take your first left and drive up Cave Rock Drive, there is a small parking lot just around the first big turn. If you park and just start walking down the path, you’ll find yourself at a base of the Rock/Hill. Just go ahead and climb on up, and then you’re on top of the world.
A few weeks ago I headed to this beautiful spot with photographer, Kassidy Hardgrove. I took my flowiest skirts and dresses and posed in the wind. Although it was incredible, I was a bit nervous. That is a big drop, and when the wind is blowing, it’s a bit nerve racking.
I don’t have much to say in this blog post, but I just wanted to share all these photos! So! Please enjoy!
The skirt is the infamous Instagram skirt that everyone seems to be wearing. And for good reason. But if you want one, find it here.
The second dress is just from Macy’s! I did a collab with them earlier this summer and this was one of the pieces I was able to buy. I can’t find it on their site now, but it’s a super cute piece.
I always think it’s funny when people want to go to Zephyr Cove, just because I went to Zephyr Cove Elementary School, so I think it’s funny college kids get drunk at the beach across the road.
But! It is beautiful, so we swung by to grab a few photos there, too. Zephyr Cove is only about a 5 minute drive from Cave Rock, so it's super easy to get to afterwards. Nothing wild seeing as it was windy and cold. But I did love these, too! Here is that dress, also from Macys!
Thank you again to Kassidy, you are beyond talented and I loved working with you!
BTW, I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, so some of the links in this post are affiliate links and if you go through them to make a purchase I will earn a commission. Nice, right? Keep in mind that I link to Amazon and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases.
