Date Night at Washoe Public House

Dylan and I are homebodies. To be honest, we eat out a lot, like almost everyday… But, we get everything to go. We order food, go pick it up, and bring it home and eat on our couch. I wouldn’t say there’s a reason behind it, that’s just how we’ve always done things since we moved in together three years ago.

So it was actually a real treat when I was invited to come visit the Washoe Public House to celebrate their One Year Anniversary. So Dylan and I got all ready and headed to visit this great spot in the heart of Downtown Reno.


Washoe Public House’s Anniversary Event

For Washoe Public House’s One Year Anniversary they had a big event with a set menu for $40 per person. The meal came with a salad, appetizer, main course, dessert and two beers. And to top that meal off, it came with t-shirts!

The Menu:

Artisan Salad

Starter: Pork Belly Egg Rolls or Petaluma Chicken Wings

Mains: Washoe Burger

Dessert: Flourless Chocolate Cake

To Drink: Brewer’s Cabinet Tahoe Blonde Ale and Dragon Punch IPA

That salad thoughhhhh. I’m all about a pretty salad. Mainly because I am way too lazy to make them at home, so I love getting a good salad when I’m out. This pretty one was topped with strawberries, asparagus and chili-lime sunflower seeds. The lemon vinaigrette made it the perfect summer salad, and I was obsessed.


For appetizers, I wanted to try both so Dylan and I each ordered one of them. The egg rolls were like nothing I’ve ever had. They had pork belly and kimchi in them, which kimchi sort of throws me off, but the jalapeno in them just gave the kick that I’m always obsessed with because I love spicy. And a spicy dipping sauce with mustard as a base made them super tangy!


BUT THESE WINGS. I love wings. I could eat them all day, but these one were so bomb. For one, they’re huge and there were so many they could be a meal all by themselves. But two, the flavor! It was just a thai sauce that Brett made, but they were ridiculously good. And so crispy – I love crispy wings. Ugh. I could eat those right now as I’m writing this, and getting sauce all over my laptop would be so worth it! HA! BTW… these wings are on the regular menu and are only $10!


And then to round out the meal we had burgers. There were two meat choices: a beef patty (what I got) and a pancetta and bacon beef patty (what Dylan got). Dylan said his burger had great flavor and strong bacon hints, which he loves bacon so he was into it! Of course my favorite part was the French fries!


Then the meal finished with this gluten free brownie cake! The raspberry sauce was something I could drink it was so good! But seriously at this point I was so full, I put that cake in a to-go box to eat at home!


Overall Brett did an amazing job planning the meal for the restaurant’s big day. Everything paired well together and he highlighted some of the best things from the menu. No lie, it was so much food, but it was so good we didn't really care. And it was so lively and busy in there, that we really had a fantastic time.

All About Washoe Public House

Washoe Public House is just south of the Truckee River on the corner of Hill and Ridge Street. The owner and chef, Brett, opened Washoe Public House in 2017 after working as chef de cuisine of Ciera Steak House at the Mont Bleu hotel in South Lake Tahoe and executive Chef at Martis Camp in Truckee. Being from Incline, Brett was happy to come back to the area after going to school in San Diego and spending some time on the east coast.






I love the spot for the great bistro food, local beers, and the patio! They also have awesome local art that’s for purchase throughout the restaurant. And like any good spot in Reno, they have a killer happy hour! With $4 appetizers and half off wine and beer, it’s a great spot to cruise by after work. And! Brett told me there’s the potential of a late night happy hour coming soon for everyone who’s out on the town on Friday and Saturday nights!
