How to Thank Your Wedding Guests

Updated: Feb 16, 2019

When you get engaged, they don’t tell you how much support you’re going to get during the wedding planning process. We never knew so many of our closest friends and family were going to be so amazing with helping us plan and execute the dream wedding we wanted. And no lie, we had no idea about the amount of gifts and presents we were going to receive for getting married.

I think what blew my mind most about the actual wedding was that people flew all this way to see us, then they wanted to help us set up and clean up the wedding, and on top of that we still got presents! It’s this realization that your family loves you so much. I can’t explain it, but it’s a feeling of love and kindness I still think about today.

For our wedding registration, we decided to register for a honeymoon. We had everything booked for our trip, but guests could contribute to different aspects of our trip and the money would just be given through us through direct deposit. We ended up getting more from our registration than what we paid for our honeymoon! (Which p.s. is how we’re going to Europe for 3 weeks this year!) Like I said, the love and support had been so strong and amazing we knew we would need to be sending out some good cards.

When it came to ordering our thank you cards I knew I wanted to show our wedding guests a piece of our honeymoon. I mean, their gifts went straight to our trip, they should see the amazing trip we had! I was so giddy when I was able to partner with Basic Invite to create the Thank You Cards of my dreams!!

Basic Invite is this company based out of Utah that makes cards for every event, from wedding to baby announcements, they have it all. I mean just look at their adorable wedding invite examples. And everything on the site is super customizable. I mean, everything! Which to me was important because I didn’t want my invites looking like something that just anyone could have passed out.

So when I was picking out my thank you card design I was all about finding a template that could fit pictures from Costa Rica.

Once I found my template and uploaded these images, it was time to make it our own. We played with colors that matched the photos we used. Basic Invite’s color options are almost unlimited. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different colors. I totally messed around with it until I felt the colors were tropical enough to match our images.

And to top it off, I got to have custom colored envelopes, too! Basic Invite offers over 40 different colors for envelopes. Kind of fun to have a bright colored envelope arrive in the mail to stand out! Trying to narrow down an envelope color was harder than choosing the right shade of green for the card body!

One other perk I loved is that you can have a custom sample, you can actually see a printed sample of the actual card so I could see exactly how it would print before placing a big order of cards.

Basic Invite made the invitations easy, not the hard work with writing them all out! I ended up spending so much time on writing invitations because I couldn’t help but personalize them. It’s hard to not want to write specific thank you’s to everyone that came. And I even went as far as printing out photos from our wedding and sending them to family members that I knew would want them! I couldn’t help myself!

So with a summary: thanking your wedding guests is as easy as finding an amazing card and telling them exactly why you appreciated them. It's more than just them coming, it's them making an effort to help you and your new spouse start a new chapter of your life. The love received on our wedding day is something I will never forget, and I'm glad we were able to tell our guests how much we appreciated them.

This is a sponsored post brought to you by Basic Invite. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience with their services and products.
